We will also require you to attend a two-day face-to-face training event in London on the Cognitive Abilities Profile (CAP) and Dynamic Assessment and Mediation.

Through applied learning, you will gain a technical understanding of their needs. You will learn how to adapt the curriculum for them; how to assess their progress; and how to collaborate with parents, carers and other professionals.

Dynamic Assessment and Mediation of Cognitive Functions: Application & Reflection will enable you to gain an in-depth foundational knowledge of the relevant theories, policies and research, and the ability to critique knowledge and existing practice.

The module content

This is in the process of development. As yet, it has not been set in stone.

How will you be assessed?

You will need to produce:

  • Practice analysis: Produce a cognitive profile of a learner which includes: reasons for selection; a completed CAP and intervention plan.
  • Reflective analysis: Write a reflective commentary on the use of CAP, including a reflection/critique on: the use of CAP in a consultation context; and the overall strengths and limitations of CAP – with clear reference to published sources.

Where indicated by your tutor, you may submit multimedia resources that you have produced within your applied practice as part of your final portfolio of evidence.

You will need one to take this module.

Already working in an education setting?

Or do you require access to an education setting?

You will need to get written permission from a senior member of staff to regularly access a setting. We will show you the best way to do this, enabling you to carry out our learning activities in your chosen setting.

How much does it cost?

We offer a flexible range of fees to suit your finances:

  • Single payment of £1,600 + VAT.
  • Three monthly instalments of £558 + VAT.
  • Ten monthly instalments of £152 + VAT.

You will need to attend a compulsory two-day face-to-face training event in London on CAP and Dynamic Assessment and Mediation.

As part of the course, you will receive a copy of the CAP manual and additional record forms (worth £245 + VAT) absolutely free.
