Why take this module?

Apply the skills and knowledge learned in the preceding module to the development of professional practice in real world situations (casework, school-based work).

You will also focus on reflective practice. This will enable you to continue to improve your practice, long after you have completed this module.

Engagement: Improving Outcomes and Attainment: Application & Reflection consists of a rich variety of activities. Build on your understanding of how to evaluate, implement and review strategies for identification and intervention in relation to communication issues and develop your confidence in engaging with and commissioning other professionals to improve support in your setting.

The course starts in September, January and May.

Choose a start date that suits you

Start the module at a time of the year that suits you – September, January or May.

How will you be assessed?

You will need to produce:

  • Reflective analysis: Produce a reflective log on the the current practice in either listening to and understanding children or parents and carers. This will be carried out in each student’s existing educational setting and will be compared with their research findings (3,000 words or equivalent).
  • Practice analysis: Plan, transcribe and review a meeting with a parent/child or review and develop your practice in listening to and understanding children, parents or carers (3,000 words).

Where indicated by your tutor, you may submit multimedia resources that you have produced within your applied practice as part of your final portfolio of evidence.

Do you have an undergraduate degree?

You will need one to take this module.

Already working in an education setting?

You will get the most out of this module if you work in an education setting with children, young people or adults.

Or do you require access to an education setting?

You will need to get written permission from a senior member of staff to regularly access a setting. We will show you the best way to do this, enabling you to carry out our learning activities in your chosen setting.

How much does it cost?

We offer a flexible range of fees to suit your finances:

  • Single payment of £1,200 + VAT.
  • Three monthly instalments of £425 + VAT.
  • Ten monthly instalments of £132 + VAT.
