"I like the flexibility of this course, the structure is very easy to work with and the tutors are wonderfully supportive." - SENCO
What is the National Award for SEN Coordination? The award was brought in by the Government in September 2009 and is intended to support the development of Special Educational Needs Coordinators. The SENCO has an important role and the aim of the award is to maintain a consistent, high level of quality training. This course will take a year to complete on a part time basis. Much of the work is undertaken in the work place.
The TDA on behalf of the Government has developed a framework of approved training providers; Real Training is delighted to be one of these approved providers and to be able to offer the award both nationally and internationally.
Why our course? Join SENCOs across England, study via distance learning and benefit from:
Do I have to do the award? Government regulations require all new to role SENCOs working in English maintained schools to achieve this award.
Those who became SENCO for the first time after September 2008 are required to take the course but no funding is currently available.
If you are an experienced SENCO or work in a private or independent school you do not have to do the award although our our large number of SENCOs working in these settings regard it as a valuable qualification to have.
A wide range of SENCOs are choosing to do this award as it is the new gold-standard training for SENCOs.
Masters points from Middlesex University This course forms a 60 credit masters module on the Middlesex University MA in Inclusive Education. You will also be a student of Middlesex University and therefore you can access the library, e-library, student support services, etc.
At the end of the course, you will be awarded a PG Certificate entitled the National Award for SEN Coordination.
Then you can either withdraw from the MA in Inclusive Education or choose 2 additional modules (additional fees apply) to complete the Masters degree - the choice is yours.
