Module Leader – Auditing and Leading Improvement
Rebecca is the module leader for our Auditing and Leading Improvement course. Aside from this, she is also Director of Inclusion for Every Child, Every Day Multi Academy Trust (MAT).
Her role includes supporting and working in collaboration with Headteachers, senior leaders and SENCOs in developing a person-centred approach to inclusion. She also works as a Deputy SEND Leader for East of England and North East London (WSS/ NASEN).
Rebecca has more than 15 years’ experience working as a senior school Leader, Deputy Head teacher, Assistant head teacher and a SENCO in several inner-city schools. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education focusing on SEND. She is a qualified SENCO and registered with the British Psychologist society. At the heart of it all, she is an outstanding English teacher.
She is also a Trustee of Calibre audio – a national charity that provides a collection of over 16,000 audiobooks for people living with a print disability.
A short Q&A with Rebecca
Q: What made you decide to become a tutor at Real Training?
What I like about Real Training is that it offers a carefully scaffolded “learner-led” approach that allows for learning adjustments to take place, supported by resources and research that are easy to dip into. Self-paced learning is really helpful when you are balancing study with a demanding role.
The emphasis on a practice-led approach including carrying out projects within each delegate’s setting, and using data to audit provision and drive change, really resonated with me. I feel like it’s the right way to bring about practical and lasting impact. This was the case when I was studying for my NASENCO award with Real Training over fourteen years ago, and remains so now that I’ve been able to return as a tutor.
Q: What can people gain from completing the Auditing and Leading Improvement course?
My vision is to be able to train and inspire a generation of SENCOs who have the passion and drive to support schools in creating equity by removing systematic barriers for all learners including those with SEND.
Using the five levels of SEND leadership, my role as a tutor is to support SENCOS at level one to understand the breath of the role and how they can use literature to ebbed systems and processes in their individual schools.
For the SENCOs who are at halfway point of their level one SEND leadership, the Auditing and learning improvement course (ALI) offered by Real Training allows them to use data to drive change.
