CCET Reaffirmations Assignment Guidance

The aim for your professional report is for you to have had an opportunity to consider an assessment question about a young person or adult and linked to this question, have administered two different tests that aim to explore the young person’s strengths and areas of need as well as offer an insight that aids your understanding of their learning.

It is important to remember that the tests administered for this report may be only one part of the overall assessment of the individual. It is equally as important to consider all factors that might be contributing to the young person’s progress.

As a basis for your report, you must have administered and used the test data from at least two different psychometric instruments. You must make sure that the tests you have chosen are valid and that you can evidence why you have chosen them to explore the assessment question you are asking.

You will need to upload all of the scoring and test manual pages related to enough of one of the tests to allow us to see how you have derived the following scores: standard score, 95% confidence range and percentile. For some tests, this will require only one subtest whereas other tests may require several subtests or the entire battery of tests.

The subject of your report should be someone with whom you have a professional relationship. The subject should NOT be someone with whom you have a personal relationship. You should not test your own child or anyone in your family or circle of friends.

Remember that your report must be more than an analysis of test results. Testing alone is not assessment – it is a facet of assessment and your aim is to give a rounded analysis of a client’s strengths and needs.

Success criteria

The report must have:

  • Clear background
  • Explicit reason for the assessment
  • Rationale for using a test within the assessment
  • Rationale for the specific test chosen
  • Evidence of observations made during the test administration
  • Test results of two different psychometric tests clearly set out with reference to standard scores, confidence ranges and percentiles
  • Interpretation of the test data with reference to the descriptors in the test manual
  • Conclusions that combine test data with other information collected as part of the assessment or in the background information
  • A holistic summary that focuses on strengths as well as areas of need
  • Recommendations as to what should happen next
  • Suitable reference to who will have access to the report and how it will be stored safely and in line with UK General Data Protection Requirements (GDPR).

Below, you will find a suggested template for your report – it is not essential that you follow this template but you will need to ensure that all of the required information is provided in the report that you upload.

You will also need to upload copies of sufficient scoring sheets to enable your tutor to check that you have scored one of the tests accurately. This must include a copy of the scoring sheet on which the client’s responses were recorded. Then you need to provide copies of all the relevant manual pages to show how you converted the raw score to standard scores, confidence intervals, centiles etc.
