Postgraduate Diplomas

Teaching Assistant working with a group of children in school

Would you like to better understand your students’ needs, while also gaining a useful qualification? Then why don’t you consider studying a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip)?

Available on all of our Masters programmes; SEND and Inclusion, Inclusive Educational Leadership, Autism, Educational Assessment and Pastoral Care, a PGDip comprises 120 level 7 credits.

All our modules are 30 or 60 credits, allowing you to pick and choose which you would prefer to study and specialise in.

Our postgraduate programmes are developed, delivered and assessed by Real Training and awarded and quality assured by Middlesex University.

Which Postgraduate Diplomas can be achieved?

  • PGDip SEND and Inclusion

Choose modules worth 120 credits from those offered on our SEND and Inclusion programme.

  • PGDip SEND and Inclusion: Autism

  • PGDip SEND and Inclusion: Assessment

* Our programmes have been designed to offer you maximum flexibility. You therefore have the option to choose any of the modules available on our SEND and Inclusion and Inclusive Educational Leadership Programmes in place of the recommended modules. This will allow you to tailor your programme to best suit your needs and the needs of your setting.

Please note:

Your Postgraduate Diploma must include one of our enhanced application and reflection modules which are; NASENCO, iSENCO, Leadership of Inclusive Practice, Auditing and Leading Improvement or the Evidence and Pedagogy for Inclusion.

Can I later put my credits towards a Masters of Education in SEND?

Yes! You can put your credits from a PGDip towards a Masters. While studying for your PGDip, you may wish to continue on to achieve a MEd (180 credits). Or, if you would like a break from studying, you can exit the programme with your PGDip and rejoin at a later date, provided that you are rejoining within 5 years from when your PGDip was achieved.

Are you eligible?

You will need to hold an undergraduate degree.

You will need to be working in an educational setting for this module. If you aren’t currently working in an educational setting you will need written permission from a senior member of staff to regularly access a setting. We can show you the best way to do this, enabling you to carry out our learning activities in your chosen setting. As part of this process, you will also need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Visit GOV.UK for more information.

Please note: Some of our modules have specific eligibility requirements. Please check the course pages for more information.

Are you based in an international setting?

Our courses are available online and can therefore be completed anywhere in the world. The programme content is designed and written with both UK and international settings in mind.

Please click here for advice on payment options and other information relevant to those studying outside of the UK.

How long does it take?

It depends. You’ll have up to 12 months to complete each module – this is the case for both our 30 credit* and 60 credit modules. Many delegates choose to complete two 30 credit modules in one year, whilst others prefer to complete one module per year. Therefore your PGDip could take between 2 and 4 years

* The only exceptions are the following two 30 credit modules where you have up to 6 months to complete each:

  • Mathematical Understanding and Teaching Methods
  • Maths Teaching and Dynamic Assessment

How much does it cost?

We offer a flexible range of fees to suit your finances. Please refer to the module pages to see the cost of each individual module.

The cost of a PGDip with Real Training (made up of 120 credits) varies. Typically, two 30 credit modules and one 60 credit module will cost approximately £5,485 + VAT.
